Red Young & His Hot Horns * CD & MP3

In 2016 I started a band that had at it’s core Blues, Jazz and vocals with horns supported by piano/organ, acoustic bass and drums.  I had some of the elements of what I had developed with Red and the Red Hots but much deeper and with the music of Ray Charles, Joe Williams, Count Basie, Joe Liggins, Jimmy Witherspoon, Percy Mayfield and moving into a bit more recent with Quincy Jones, Jimmy Cliff, Charles Mingus and others.  I included iconic pieces of the 1950s & 1960s era – ballads, organ jazz showcase tunes, latin and much blues.  The Band plays at the famous Antones in Austin since it re-opened in 2016 with a weekly residency on Thursdays.  This CD is the band on any given night.  Members include Red Young/piano-organ-vocals; Brannen Temple/drums; Nick Clark/bass; Steve Butts & David Christopher Young/trumpets; Daniel Robinson, Kaz Kazanoff & Dan Bechdolt/saxes.
